Talk about burying the lead. The risk factors aren't listed in the news article or the abstract for the actual article. And you have to create an account to read the article itself which is going to be incomprehensible to a layman anyways.


They could have been clearer, but FTA: “This allowed an unprecedented level of detail in evaluating regional variations in the prevalence of 5 key modifiable cardiovascular risk factors: obesity, high blood pressure, high non-HDL cholesterol, smoking, and diabetes.

The findings are striking: taken together, these 5 modifiable risks account for over half of all cardiovascular disease worldwide.”


I wish these studies would include the type of diabetes they mean. Type 1, 2? Both?
