He is right about the meanness, but his own product head says the goal is to capture market (to be ad monetized in future) cuz ppl are unhappy with twitter. So that's the goal of Threads. Not doing anything about meanness.

Cuz guess what? There is no solution to reducing meanness in environments where everyone broadcasts. Think about radio spectrum and everyone given a free radio to broadcast. What do you think happens?

Claude Shannon already showed us that when everyone broadcasts you get noise. And to overcome noise what do ppl do? Raise the volume, or like a good spammers/marketers annoyingly keep repeating the same msg. Isn't such an environment a breeding ground for meanness?

We haven't solved the noise on twitter, cuz free for all broadcast mediums are not possible without being ever growing noise generators.

There is an ugly solution to noise, which is censorship. But it's hard to implement

Well its not called censorship when we allocate radio spectrum. But I think the point is above a particular level, there is so much noise everyone gets drowned out and some will act out of frustration causing harm to others or themselves. Really a question of being able to detect where that level is.
