The irony I see here is that she is relatively young. By making these declarations, she and others in this administration are making an implicit bet that there won't be another sensible e.g. law-abiding administration in the future that won't put them in jail.
Politics is a fickle world -- being brazen by breaking laws is a risky business. You might be in charge now, but are you sure your people will always be in charge?
You've posted this quip twice in two days, and at least one other time a few months ago. Most of the activity we can see in your comment feed over recent months is in the category of political/ideological battle, not curious conversation, which means you participation on HN is at odds with the guidelines and the site's purpose.
We understand that these politics-related topics are inherently activating of strong emotions (indeed, survival-related fears), and so we've been willing to cut everyone a little slack in these discussions in the past year or two. But there is a limit to how much blatant disregard for the guidelines we can tolerate before we have to ban accounts.
You're as welcome as anyone else to participate here and express your views, but we need to see you, like everyone, showing a sincere intention to follow the guidelines. These ones in particular are relevant to your recent posting history:
Be kind. Don't be snarky. Converse curiously; don't cross-examine. Edit out swipes.
Comments should get more thoughtful and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive.
Eschew flamebait. Avoid generic tangents. Omit internet tropes.
Please don't use Hacker News for political or ideological battle. It tramples curiosity.
> Maltese is a Central Semitic language derived from late medieval Sicilian Arabic with Romance superstrata. It is the only Semitic language officially written in the Latin script. It is spoken by the Maltese people and is a national language of Malta, and is the only official Semitic and Afroasiatic language of the European Union
Maltese is the official language of Malta and 77% of people in Malta are Maltese. Now, what's the definition of Arab is debateable, but I think it's reasonable. I think they are sort of like Romanians where they are surrounded by Slavs, but their bretheren are on the other side of the continent. This is a simplification and as primer, I'm sure people have more nuanced takes.
Thank you for this! I wonder how close it is to Arabic or Hebrew. However, I think the definition of "Arab" does not apply here (as someone from the Middle East myself)
That would give you a sample of the language. Watching it seems pretty definitive that it is. A more eclectic member of the Arabic family, but it’s definitely Arab.
Israel and Iran were BFFs right until the revolution and Israel has hundreds of thousands of Persian jews. I'm sure relations will be very quickly amended if the current regime falls.
I eat one meal a day for as far as I can remember. Fatties love to tell me it's unhealthy, my doctor hasn't figure out yet though so I imagine it really isn't that unhealthy.
Eating three meals a day is a very very very recent thing if you account for human history, or even modern human history
180cm, 75kg, leanish, I optimise for rock climbing and do kettlebell workouts 2 to 3 times a week. I do close to the bare minimum of what is available to stay in decent shape, it takes me less than 4 hours a week total. Not counting the time I save cooking/eating
mhm! i do pretty well portioned 3 meals. small breakfast, small lunch, average sized dinner. i really like just grazing all day, eat a cracker or two, have a yogurt, have some chips etc. id honestly say im snacking a good bit whenever i feel like it. but exactly, portion and contents. im a pretty lean 150lbs
"So it makes you feel fuller without adding calories, like GLP-1 drugs"
Nobody really knows how GLP-1 agonists work, but given the other effects (e.g. insulin stability, change in other addictive behaviours etc.) it's definitely not just this.
What are you talking about?? Meat contains no fiber. The primary fiber source is plant-based foods (e.g., vegetables). So modern populations eating lots of meat means they're getting little to no fiber.
