I'm not from the US, so please correct me if i'm wrong. My understanding is that the Social Security in the US is more comparable to our "AOW". And our AOW is not changing. Our pensions are more comparable to the 401K in the us.

Where do you live, and what does AOW stand for? There's no way to say whether your comparison is correct without having any idea of what you're comparing Social Security to.

Context suggests they live in the Netherlands and are talking about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algemene_Ouderdomswet .

Aesthetically, great. But i can't help but find it harder to read this font. Probably cool for things such as a poster or album art, but not something i'd enjoy using in my code editor.

Zen was a bit rough around the edges when it first launched, but it's a solid replacement to Arc now. Honestly don't miss Arc anymore.

And you know how much VC it has raised?

$0.

I don't see it happening. What's in it for the average user to self-host? Why would they put in the effort (even if it's a very small effort) if their cloud option just works for them?

Haha, i was also somehow expecting this article to be about the fact that he used a Nokia that could conveniently only store 20 text messages, turning his message history into unobtanium.

> The bass heavy tendency of western consumer grade headphones/speakers is tuned for western pop music and does not sound very good with much else.

As a basshead myself, this reminds me of these Drum & Bass artists that found the speakers in the venues they played at were not tuned for the music they were producing, so they built their own soundsystem to bring with them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck-kq6g0-QY

Oh yeah, this is definitely a thing with a lot of bass-heavy EDM. I'm always a bit wary of trying new venues because I never know if they're going to have proper subwoofers or not, since some genres just do not sound right without a sound system that gives sub-bass frequencies the room they deserve.

As an example, give a quick listen to Turn Off the Lights[0]. It sounds incredibly empty and tinny on small sound systems, but add a subwoofer and you discover a whole other layer of chest-shaking bass. This stuff is made to be played live on a properly tuned sound system.

By that standard we would have "lifetime" warranty on everything sold in The Nederlands, since by law we require warranty as long as you can reasonably expect a product to last.

There's also this LoRa for Flux that generates "1999 Digital Camera Style" images. Those are also very realistic in my opinion. It's probably due to the imperfections and how mundane the photo's are, that make them believable. https://civitai.com/models/724495?modelVersionId=810420

I'm not sure if this changed with Sonoma, but i'm using the lcd-rainbow-d.jxl as my wallpaper right now. It still weirdly cannot be opened with Preview, but it can definitely be set as a wallpaper!

I don't think anyone from Europe would be against fining EU companies operating in the US that are violating US laws.

Exactly, I think the US ought to make some extremely ambiguous laws and fine EU companies, dollar for dollar.
