Why do you need a seqlock? To make sure you're not context switched out between the read of the page value and the rdtsc?

Presumably you mean you just double check the page value after the rdtsc to make sure it hasn't changed and retry if it has?

Tbh I thought clock_gettime was a vdso based virtual syscall anyway

Only if you're dumb about it. Asking for source links is one thing I do all the time, and chatgpt gives citations by default.

What's the benefit of using a chatbot if you still have to go and read all of it's sources on your own?

The same, I suppose, as using Wikipedia to get an overview of a topic, a surface understanding, before following the citations to dig deeper and fully validate the summary.

You can get precise citations supporting the facts of interest to you, so that you don't have to dig through the sources on your own.

At least for the time being the chatbot isn't optimised to deliver as many ads or sponsored results to your eyeballs as physically possible.

An email address that lives as long as you're willing to renew the domain?

I still can't get over that when I go to the "Accounts" screen of Windows 11 control panel there's no option to add a new local account.

I'm pretty sure Boost.Unordered employs the same techniques.

> When looking for an element with hash value h, SIMD technologies such as SSE2 and Neon allow us to very quickly inspect the full metadata word and look for the reduced value of h among all the 15 buckets with just a handful of CPU instructions: non-matching buckets can be readily discarded,

I don't know about the mainland but in the UK most fintech startups ultimately try to get a bank license and become fully fledged banks.

That's just the legal red tape to further encroach on the turf of traditional banks. They are still significantly cheaper.

It's the same with financial content.

I follow N YouTubers who produce genuinely useful and insightful videos on the state of the market and personal finance etc, but the algorithm just recommends people with stock tips and scaremongering junk

I replaced the keyboard in my 5 year old Dell laptop without difficulty. The battery as well (at the same time). It was an instant way to make it run and feel like new

Just going over the PCI bus to the NIC costs you 500-600ns with a kernel bypass stack.

It does not. If this was the case, round trip wire to wire latency below 1.0-1.2 microseconds in software would’ve been impossible. But it clearly is possible - see benchmarks by Solarflare, Exablaze, and others.

You mean like this one directly from AMD showing a median 1/2 RTT ef_vi latency of 590ns (for UDP)?

Using their latency generation card that came out just a few months ago?

Hardware TCP offloads usually deal with the happy fast path - no gaps or out of order inbound packets - and fallback to software when shit gets messy.

Widely used in low latency fields like trading
