If you read "A grup of jenarals inishietid a coo", it's easy enough to pronounce, but all the context and parallels to other languages are lost, which means that eg. a native speaker of a Romance language might not immediately recognize that general is the same as the word in their native language modulo some accents.
I find working on two different branches in the same repo quite manageable since the context switching is quite manageable.
