Flagging on HN has taken a new level.

From the last Iran thread it seems like the pro-Gaza people are really upset at the potential loss of a theocratic Iranian benefactor. It was the wildest thread I've seen on HN.

Which thread is that?

I like gemini but is it worth sacrificing an ever shrinking reading space of gmail? Which is the most important part of any email UI? Not sure from the post that an opt-out will be provided for disinterested users?

Agreed. Watching the worldwide reactions so far, it’s surprising to see the RN (hard-right) in France most vocal in condemning.

I like less and found that https://github.com/noborus/ov can be a good modern alternative to it.

Another nice one is moor (née moar): https://github.com/walles/moor

Looks cool! Annoyingly less sometimes bugs out and starts spinning, have to kill it from the outside.

I works with KYC, there seems to be no viable way right now. I've heard discussions about using bone measurements similar to those used in sports to detect age cheaters.

Happy new year folks!

Not the author here. I’m not sure about DuckDB, but SQLite allows you to simply use a file as a database and for archiving, it’s really helpful. One file, that’s it.

DuckDB does as well. A super simplified explanation of duckdb is that it’s sqlite but columnar, and so is better for analytics of large datasets.

The schema is this: items(id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, type TEXT, time INTEGER, by TEXT, title TEXT, text TEXT, url TEXT

Doesn't scream columnar database to me.

At a glance, that is missing (at least) a `parent` or `parent_id` attribute which items in HN can have (and you kind of need if you want to render comments), see http://hn.algolia.com/api/v1/items/46436741

Edges are a separate table

Yandex is utter shit. I’m annoyed by Google giving localized results first but at least they are results, Yandex churns out nothingburgers

I’d hedge a bet that Russia does not have the effective largest stockpile given their maintenance difficulties.

I don't think the size of the working stockpile matters. It's that they have enough. Even the successful detonation of one working nuke would be catastrophic.

> I use Python daily

This does not add anything to your argument, if you’re doing low velocity development and manage to remember all the best practices that ought to be followed, then fine. But if you have to do CI/CD like I have to, uv is a revelation. Just works out of the box and fast.
