> congrats if you buy a stablecoin - you've effectively financed the US gvt at 0%.
As MMT teaches us, a government that issues its own currency does not need to borrow to finance itself, as it can create the money it needs, though it may still issue debt for other reasons.
I mean if the US gov moderately lowers the amount of debt it issues (and starts printing more to cover the difference), inflation will go way up, which seems pretty bad.
They increased what was provided in the old $5 a couple of times, before raising the price to $6, though.
Also, there’s a new $4 entry-tier droplet that has the same CPU, the same amount of ram and the same amount of storage as my $5 droplet used to: https://www.digitalocean.com/pricing/droplets
The included bandwidth is only half as much (500GiB), but I suspect most people who would have gotten $5 droplets in the past will now be getting $4 ones.
Also, FWIW, I’ve load tested different VPSes between AWS, Linode and DO and found that for reasons I don’t understand, AWS ones perform considerably worse than the other two platforms VPSes with identically listed stats.
Try Scaleway, stardust. You can only have 2 but they are 2 euro a month. And free bandwidth. I really like them (Note: I have mentioned them several times in this thread but I have no affiliation or commercial interest - just a happy customer).
You and your wife can both install Signal and play the same game. Then you can discard that Facebook is snooping on your messages. And you can think of bigger conspiracies which is always fun.

> In economics inflation has a specific definition: a general rise in the price level. It can be caused by all kinds of things.
When the prices of all goods and services go up, it is the thing you measure them against that is going down. If there were no currency, there would be no inflation, only changes in relative prices.
Exactly, just like Biden accusing the meat oligopolies for price hikes. Hey, lets pour another billion to solve the problem. And corporate greed and all that nonsense. It's a carbon copy. Yet many believe it.
This would not surprise anyone who lives in a country with a weak currency, like Argentina or Turkey. The currency is devalued and you earn more and more Pesos or Liras, but they are worth less and less. I understand that you live in the United States and that you are used to measuring things against the Dollar. So you consider the Dollar as something fixed. Now that your currency is devaluing, businesses income (and your income) is going to increase, but only nominally.
