If you’d like to read novel length LeGuin, “The Left Hand Of Darkness” and “The Dispossessed” are excellent. Much of her most lauded work shares a universe, but each novel stands alone and doesn’t share relevant characters, let alone protagonists.

But it does. The $500 transaction for furniture is an edge from the bank to the furniture asset account. This edge is outgoing from the bank account (-$500) and incoming to the furniture asset account (+$500). That’s it, that’s double entry bookkeeping. Each edge represents both entries.
It’s not _that_ different. Larger address space, more emphasis on multicast for some basic functions. If you understand those functions in IPv4, learning IPv6 is very straightforward. There’s some footguns once you get to enterprise scale deployments but that’s just as true of IPv4.
Lol! IPv4 uses zero multicast (I know, I know, technically there's multicast, but we all just understand broadcast). The parts of an IPv4 address and their meaning have almost no correlation to the parts of an IPv6 address and their meaning. Those are pretty fundamental differences.
IP addresses in both protocols are just a sequence of bits. Combined with a subnet mask (or prefix length, the more modern term for the same concept) they divide into a network portion and a host portion. The former tells you what network the host is on, the latter uniquely identifies the host on that network. This is exactly the same for both protocols.

That multicast on IPv4 isn’t used as much is irrelevant. It functions the same way in both protocols.
The biggest difference is often overlooked because it's not part of the packet format or anything: IPv4 /32s were not carried over to IPv6. If you owned 1.1.1.1 on ipv4, and you switch to ipv6, you get an entirely different address instead of 1.1.1.1::. Maaybe you get an ipv6-mapped-ipv4 ::ffff:1.1.1.1, but that's temporary and isn't divisible into like 1.1.1.1.2.
And then all the defaults about how basically everything works are different. Home router in v6 mode means no DHCP, no NAT, and hopefully yes firewall. In theory you can make it work a lot like v4, but by default it's not.
But TCP or HTTP don’t care about the underlying transport. They’re higher level protocols that are payloads to either IPv4 or IPv6. It’s irrelevant what the transport is when dissecting HTTP and very little time should be spent on it.
IPv4 is, for all intents and purposes, still the default transport. It’s also simpler than IPv6 in some regards. When teaching layer 3, it makes sense to teach both, and teach IPv4 first. Though I fully agree that they should be taught with equal emphasis. I don’t doubt there’s a good number of programs out there that don’t into sufficient detail on IPv6.

IP addresses show up everywhere when you are working with both TCP and HTTP. Sockaddr is all over sockets programming, IPs show up in HTTP headers, etc.
They absolutely care about the underlying protocol because the underlying protocol is how you address the other end.

And it's the main reason for polarization. You have large cities (SF, Seattle, Chicago, NYC) that are the centers of economic growth, and you have thousands of small cities that are slowly dying. These large cities and their satellites are growing at an unsustainable rate, even though the _overall_ population is flat.
And then the cities themselves, they have a huge population of low-income workers who can't afford to live there without some form of subsidies. It started with transit, but now the freaking NYC mayor is talking about subsidized grocery stores. This is another source of polarization.
Want to see an even starker example? Look at Japan. Tokyo is in a literal housing price bubble in a country with a _shrinking_ population.

No, this is wrong. (1) There is no housing price bubble in Tokyo. Yes, some very central "ku's" (Shibuya-ku and Minato-ku) are seeing a rise in home prices, but it is nothing ridiculous. It is no where near a repeat of the late 1980s. You can easily select a neighborhood just ten minutes away and it will have sharply lower prices. Also, Japan effectively has zero NIMBYism due to a national building code. New housing is constantly being built in Tokyo. (2) Yes, overall, the population is shrinking in Japan. However, the population of Tokyo continues to rise.
One of the achievements in my career I’m lowkey proudest of is sneaking in the rewire of about 45,000 ports on a campus that were split pair after an explicit project to do so was shot down.
Comparing one billion exact copies of the exact same thing to a different thing that shares some superficial qualities doesn’t make any sense whatsoever when the GP is simply saying that among the huge quantity of content on TikTok and YouTube some short form videos are are as artistically valuable as the best examples of any other more traditional media forms.

content on both platforms isn’t all good, but there is so much variety that some of it is. You responded that Coca Cola isn’t an Imperial Stout. It isn’t, but that has absolutely nothing to do with GP’s point.
