His point, I believe, was that it is early in the innovation cycle and they very well be replaced quickely with different solutions/paradigms.

Well, some things fade out and some do not. How do we decide which one it is?

The reason I ask is that the pace of new things arriving is overwhelming, hence I was tempted to just ignore it. Not because things had signs of transience, but because I was drowning and didn't know where to start. That is not the same thing as actually observing signs of things being too foamy.

Agreed. I think if this is overly concerning, developing early in the innovation cycle just might not be the ideal place to be. :)

I bet you live in the US. What you describe is not a universal issue.

No, I'm from Belgium and we get awful tasteless tomatoes from the Netherlands.

Dutch products in general are low quality. So glad I got out.

In the UK we mostly grow our own tasteless tomatoes.

Plenty *commercial* labs frequently prioritized pure science over *immediate* consumer products, but none done so out of charity. Deepmind included.

What is the point of knowing the right thing to do if you fail to persuade peers, reports, and leaders?

Like I said,

> Persuasion is necessary

Spot on. From the linked blog post "The refrain of La Bamba, the Mexican folk song that Ritchie Valens made famous, goes: Para bailar La Bamba/Se necesita una poca de Gracia. "

are you just going to ignore Javascript?

Independent thinking is a trait of those who truly matter. Google would greatly benefit if those who believe there is a genocide in Gaza were to leave

You are free to discuss things and even protest, without disrupting others' work or violating company's policies, but if your behavior is harmful for the company, you should be fired. It is really not complicated. Never pay salary to people who are not aligned with your company. Just common-sense business and cyber security.

Don't forget it all came to the center stage after a mass butchering at a music festival, few beheadings and some Jewish babies kidnapped. Pretty effective! What is a little terrorism for a greater good! /S

Even if they made steps, and were ignored, because management disagrees with them or for whatever reason, they still don't get a pass for disrupting normal business. It is a private company, you can say your opinion, but if you disrupt, you are gone. Very sane and simple.
