They’re speaking specifically about the TV series.

Good example in this very discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43477003

Your point about inflation is such a clear observation that it seems self-evident, and yet I don’t think I’ve ever seen decline in product quality linked explicitly to causing skewed inflation numbers (and even skewed productivity numbers) before. Would be fun to see a same-quality inflation index, as tricky as that would be.

I took it as more like, people might kinda think to themselves, “this shirt was made by my friend with time and love instead of just, you know, coming off the production line” as if mass produced clothing is just made by some big corporate machine. But of course someone somewhere is actually putting in work to make a shirt for you, always.

If Trump does accidentally manage to unite Europe, have them end the Ukraine war, and all without US involvement and spending… he will of course immediately claim full credit.

Also worth noting that Prey (2006) started development in 1995.

There are a handful of videos from E3 (97 or 98) showing off the original 3DRealms development of Prey. One of the things that didn't survive into Human Head's version on the Doom3 engine was rotating portals, or if they did they were rare that I don't remember them.

If you mean literally you can only bring them half way together, try just moving twice as far away.

See the note at the end of the article. It’s a real number but with some of the digits in the middle edited out of the recording.

Yes! This is what I concluded when, a few years back, I did a similar analysis to what matthiasl posted. <shameless plug> If you're interested in this kind of thing, please check out my book, Exploding the Phone. https://explodingthephone.com </shameless plug>

It’s often wrong anyway. Much like you, the thing that annoys me most about it though is all the power they must be using having it run on every single search by anyone.

Great work. When sending a video to someone else, how is the sound created - does your app convert the midi to audio with its built-in piano sound?

I assume it is using built-in sound. But of course, you could play saved midi on your keyboard and save that audio if using some specific sounds.
